Western took a non-traditional path to MITidm, finding her niche in the world of fashion design as it relates to STEM fields. Her two decades of professional experience includes work as a fashion tech journalist, educator, and entrepreneur. She has designed clothing, created fashion curriculum for elementary, secondary and higher education levels, and reported on trends. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from the Parsons School of Design, Western has remained committed to connecting people to products with improved functionality, perhaps in some form of wearable technology. She hopes to bring a focus on beauty, spirituality and physical health to practical solutions.
