Andrea is a designer from Costa Rica who recognizes the environmental and social responsibility that the creation of any new product entails. With over 6 years of professional experience in the USA working in industrial product development & licensing for international furniture brands, she has a deep understanding of the creative process. She holds a double BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Furniture and Fibers Design and is pursuing the Sloan School of Management sustainability certificate alongside her IDM degree from MIT. She is an avid dreamer and experimenter who wants to use design thinking as a positive tool in the development of the ever-changing human environment. Her interest is in developing systems and products that not only are attractive and make people happy but are also responsible and serve a long term purpose. Her current work investigates the recycling industry and global recycling yields looking for solutions that can help reduce or eliminate plastic waste.
