Karen is fascinated with user-centered research methods and how the usability of products can be improved through design. After graduating from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design, she worked at international packaging company, Sonoco, with cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, and salespeople to launch innovative point-of-purchase displays that eliminated excess shipping material. Karen is attracted to MITidm for its encouragement of interdisciplinary collaboration aimed at cultivating the next generation of leaders. Unafraid to break from tradition and challenge standing conventions, Karen is driven to design a future that solves entrenched societal problems.
