“The future I envision is one where people from both developed and developing economies have equitable success with the tools and resources they need to remedy the challenges they face.”

Growing up in Zimbabwe, Leroy often heard a Southern African expression which means “a person is a person because of other people.” That concept is what taught him early on to pay attention to perspectives that were different from his own. Leroy has carried his observations and listening skills into his product design work, which emphasizes the human-facing component of solutions. His goal is to be an innovator who makes a difference in communities like the one where he was raised. The biggest challenge of creating good solutions from difficult problems is finding a viable business model for sustainability and growth. Leroy says MITidm is helping him turn engineering ideas into solutions and products that can enrich lives. Leroy earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
