“Groundbreaking thinking and technologies are key to closing the tremendous gap to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”

When a project isn’t progressing as expected, Maya knows how to pivot. Strategy meetings turn into brainstorming sessions aimed at identifying root causes for disappointing outcomes so that action plans for improvement can be plotted. She experienced just that working for the UN World Food Programme, when the team determined the potential to decrease post-harvest losses was blocked by a lack of focus on the farmers they promised to help. Maya has discovered that working at the intersection of social impact and innovation can accelerate progress toward intended, more sustainable goals. She came to MITidm to complement her business experience with design and engineering capabilities, and leverage the best of design to improve the lives of people in need. Maya earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the American University of Beirut.
