“The leader I aspire to be is one who challenges the status quo and possesses a desire to revolutionize the world.”

Innovation within emerging economies is a priority for Jahanara. Having worked within the healthcare industry prior to joining MIT’s idm program, she says there is a dire need to create affordable, easy-to-operate medical equipment that can be maintained locally for use in developing countries. Medical equipment is often incompatible with the typical characteristics of those countries, such as unreliable electricity, high temperatures, or a shortage of specialized staff to operate it. The MITidm program is where Jahanara is developing her skills to innovate with empathy and work collaboratively at the intersection of business, engineering and design. Jahanara has a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Business Administration and Economics from Western University in Canada.
