“It is truly rewarding to know that every product decision we make can affect millions of users.”

Katie believes that a good product does not limit users, rather it liberates them. This philosophy is what motivated her to start thinking about how products could be designed with the environment in mind. For all of the challenges in planetary health and extending the life of products, there are solutions. As a user experience engineer, Katie worked with teams of designers on projects that included using ocean plastic for packaging, developing a replaceable earmuff for headsets, and the potential of an adaptable mouse to accommodate varying degrees of motor skills. She credits the synergy of multidisciplinary team members who understand each other’s perspective and speak each other’s language to come up with successful innovation – just like her current MITidm experience. Katie received a Bachelor of Science in Interactive Media Arts from New York University Shanghai.
